Emotive Ceramics

This project explores the fusion of kinetic typography with interactive design, where users can control the motion of typefaces. Inspired by the organic forms of ceramics, I developed a "cylinder effect" that mimics the shape of pottery, integrating Chinese characters to enhance the visual texture.

In this project, I selected Chinese characters representing emotions—happiness, anger, sadness, and satisfaction—as dynamic textures. Unlike modern Chinese characters, Oracle bone scripts, with their intricate and textured strokes, are employed for their visual suitability as textures in this context.

The interactive component allows users to shape their own virtual ceramics by manipulating sliders that correspond to these emotions. This process is designed to reflect how ceramicists mold their creations based on their feelings. By adjusting the sliders, users engage in a form of emotional expression, crafting pieces that resonate with their current mood.

Through this innovative interface, I aim to provide users with a unique way to explore and manifest their emotions, bridging the gap between traditional art forms and digital interaction.
